Piaval's story begins in 1919, when a small workshop was opened to produce hand-crafted wooden chairs, in the heart of what is today known worldwide as the Italian Chair District. One hundred years of history, the dedication and passion of 5 generations at the helm of the company, the success stories and the constant desire to innovate have made us a modern, structured company, an international brand specialised in manufacturing chairs and tables for the healthandcare sector.

Piaval offers to the healthandcare  sector its consolidated know-how, comprised of an extensive foundation of experience, talent and skills. The entire production process takes place at the company to ensure consistent quality and practical solutions to every customer need. Chairs, armchairs, sofas, stools, tables and coffee tables offer maximum comfort, durability, safety and robustness. They reflect the exceptional woodworking craftsmanship, the attention to details and the selection of the very best materials and are the result of constant attention to technological innovation.

CERTIFICATIONS

Piaval is certified in the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 standard focused on quality management, which attests to the adoption of accurate control systems at every stage, from design to production and customer care.
Piaval has long collaborated with CATAS, the largest and most important Italian institute for the certification, research and testing within the wood and furniture industry, a centre of excellence in Italy and around the world.
Seats and backs, both vertical and inclined, are subjected to 200,000 cycles to test their resistance to stress and wear; the load tests “on the seat“ are calculated for use by people weighing up to 120 kg for standard seats and 350 kg for bariatric seats.
In 2010, Piaval obtained the FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL® FORESTRY CERTIFICATION, international organisation which promotes the management of wood around the world, in an environmentally conscious and economically responsible manner. On request, the products can be certified and manufactured using wood obtained only from protected and controlled forest areas.
In 2015, we were certified by ERGOCERT, the ergonomics usability and research body, for some 35 of our models. This attests to their conformity to the highest ergonomic and usability standards, demonstrating their safety and effectiveness. Our models obtained Ergocert Class A and Ergocert Class A+, a result that pays dividends to our professional and ethical efforts.

Every product is the result of a costant focus on technological innovation.

Quality control

Is ensured in any stage of the production cycle. It starts with the wood, passed through an autoclave to remove any residues of humidity which could compromise static nature of the processed material. It is then carried out from assembly to finishing, from padding to upholstering.

CUSTOM MADE

Every product is versatile in terms of upholstery and finishes, flexible and adaptable to the specific needs of the project. We constantly extend the range of upholstery, selecting the proposals of important manufactures which guarantee the best peformance of resistence and hygiene.

ACCESSORIES

Each model is offered with a vast range of accessories, making them configurable to every user need: form extractable or foldaway footrests to headrest cushions, from trays to different types of wheels and feet.

SAFETY

Chairs are designed to offer maximum stability with every position and movement: secure grip to accompany movement, non -slip and anti-tipping features, accessories with rounded corners. Equal close attention is given to the safety of the workers.

USABILITY

Mechanical and electrical devices control the movement of the back, seat and footrest. Controls are intuitive, ease of use is guaranteed even for users with learning or memory difficulties.

In every aspect of its business, Piaval expresses a strong commitment to the environment and sustainable development. The resulting scraps of wood are used as fuel to produce 100% of our heating. The photovoltaic system on the roof of our production facility provides clean energy and guarantees the reduction of CO2 emission. Our products are made using environmentally friendly materials and manufacturing processes. Take, for example, the painting cycle: since 2007 we have been using exclusively water-based products or coatings selected for being strictly free from Phthalates and azodyes.
